We all know that extra virgin olive oil is usually sold per liter. However, unlike water, a liter of olive oil does not equal a kilogram of olive oil.
SO HOW MUCH DOES A LITER OF EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL WEIGH?
To know the answer to this question we have to check the density of our favorite seasoning, that is the ratio between its mass and its volume.
According to official estimates, olive oil has a density of 0.92. This number means that, therefore, 1 liter of extra virgin olive oil weighs 0.92 kg, or 920 grams.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO KNOW THIS DIFFERNANCE?
Knowing how much a liter of extra virgin olive oil weighs allows you to avoid mistakes, for example in the kitchen, since it can happen that in some recipes the quantity of oil to be added is indicated in kg or grams, rather than in liters, which could be hoax.
